If you pay off your debts, will it come directly off of your credit reports?
And show that everything is in good standing, and paid? Or does it still linger there?

When a debt is fully paid off the information about your payment history is often held by the reporting credit company for 3-7 years. The record is held longer, usually 7-10 years if you had an IRS tax lien, or a debt write-off (usually years) even if you later paid it in full.
You will need to keep your receipts because it can take a couple of months for your credit report to become current. If it doesn’t change then you should dispute the charge. Do not view your credit report on free credit report .com. You should go to http://www.annualcreditreport.com You are entitled to a free annual copy of your credit report from the top three agencies.
