Divorce Law – Community property/debt – TX?

I understand about division of community property in Texas; however with regard to debt, I need some info. When debt is created ‘within’ the marriage and husband/wife have credit cards in both their names – courts would judge ‘equal liability’, but if husband had his credit card in His name only, and wife likewise had hers in her name only – would both be held responsible by the courts for that debt too? How would credit card company look at responsibility in case of individual cards?

Lastly, if a school loan taken out during marriage was in only the wife’s name, would the husband also be handle responsible for it …since in the long run, if they had stayed together, the ‘family’ would have benefited?

Thank you for your time and assistance. Response from lawyers, and those who have been through this would be appreciated.

US debt crisis: Find out how to handle your money

It’s the debt crisis in the United States that left the world markets tumbling with dangers of a double dip recession in the US ,with US credit ratings slashed .How will this effect India and what should you do with your money?

Do you think the feeling of love is fallacious unless all these other conditions are met?

It seems that couples that "fall in love" or get married do so, due to a feeling of love only to discover all of these issues later. Examples include…. (no particular order)

Do I want kids, how many, how to raise them (strict or lax parent)?

Religious practice, (are you religious, do you actually practice, raise kids in a religious manner)

How do you handle your finance, saver/spender, debt levels – debt maintenance

Does the partner have any career aspirations, career possibilities, upward mobility or will he/she be in this same position for the rest of their lives amidst higher expenses

Personal habits, cleanliness, habits around others (such as friends, family, kids)

Communication skills when everything goes wrong at once (most people find it easy to get along together when everything is fine – horrible proxy, prudent to rationalize and plan for worst case scenario than assuming everything will be fine – such as a recession/depression/death/injury, etc.)

This are just a few things I thought off. (Note: Certain statements are in the second person because I wrote it as it came to my head).

I feel like even though most people don’t realize it, the standards for everyone to sleep, date, love and marry a person are completely different. For me personally, each standard is substantially more rigorous than the last.

What is your assessment of our current political environment?

This is mine …

The way things are being handled in Washington can lead a voter to believe that either the debt issue is a farce or that our political leaders have lost their capacity to govern. Our politicians are not statesmen and for the most part we don’t expect them to be (a true statesman is rare).

What we do expect them to be is a politician. A politician’s job is to negotiate. Because this country is so diversified we need to constantly find a middle ground in order to move forward and maintain a quality of life. That is called a democracy. However, we also make mistakes. The only people who don’t make mistakes are the ones who do nothing.

Today, we are faced with leadership (on both sides of the aisle) that has failed this country. The leadership has failed because they have made “mistakes” and they don’t know how to set the expectations of the citizens. Getting the “vote” has become so important that the politicians let the people believe what they want no matter how foolish it is.

Because of the times we live in, it’s not going to be easy for this country to get out of this mess. It may have gone too far. The leadership needs to be honest with themselves and the people of this country. Some people may not like it and will kick and scream, but they’ll get over it. The problem we are face with is “everyone’s’” problem not just Washington’s.

Do you think the economy will improve in the next few years?

For the past several months, it seems like every time I check the news I can count on seeing at least one article about how to handle lay-offs, cope with high gas prices, or manage your spare cash down to the last penny.

With so many people already buried in mountains of debt and multiple massive-scale company lay-offs, it is a scary world to be going into (I am about to graduate from high school and college is going to leave me severely in debt… and what if I can’t even get a job to pay it off?)

I know that the economy has gone through this before, but I wasn’t alive to see it happen. I don’t understand what it looks like to go from an economic peak to a trough and back again.

So I guess my question is… how do you think this is going to play out over the next few years? Is it going to get worse, better? Does the situation depend on what our dearest leaders decide to do about it? The whole ordeal has me feeling very confused and lost… any insight is greatly appreciated.

WTF is the point of a Twitter debate? Outline your plan for the future in 140 characters or less? REALLY?

At first I was confused at why the top two 2012 GOP moneymakers during the 2Q (Paul and Romney) decided to skip this altogether.

Now I know why. I didn’t realize they were actually going to debate using Twitter. (lol……Yes, it was called a "twitter debate", I just assumed Twitter was sponsoring it and it would be live on the web)

What the fk is this? And what is it accomplishing? I can understand a Q&A session via twitter (like Obama did a few weeks ago), but how can you DEBATE via Twitter?

http://news.yahoo.com/gop-presidential-candidates-join-twitter-debate-203431843.html

WASHINGTON (AP) — You think presidential debates are challenging? Try limiting your answers to 140 characters.

Six Republican presidential hopefuls traded tweets in the first presidential debate conducted through Twitter on Wednesday, outlining their agendas across the popular social media service.

In brief responses that buzzed across cyberspace, the GOP field challenged President Barack Obama’s approaches to the ongoing debate over the debt ceiling, job creation and the U.S. involvement in Libya. Republican candidates criticized Obama’s handling of the economy and efforts to reform health care, while using the medium to share links to introductory videos and websites.

"Obama failed. With ur help we can return the people’s voice to the WH, restore fiscal sanity & make Obama a 1 term president," said Minnesota Rep. Michele Bachmann, reflecting the clipped jargon commonly found on Twitter.

How to dispute a CA when I was never notified of the debt?

Silly me just got into the habit 4 months ago to check my credit from all 3 bureas on a regular basis. When I checked my credit, I see there is an account in deliquent status. It’s a doctor bill. They claim my insurance did not pay something. I have been to this doc several times, and was never notified about a bill. They never called me or sent an invoice. I would have paid if I knew I owed. I got the doctor to send me a bill now-2 years later. This is ruining my credit. Don’t they have to notify you if a debt is owed? The last time I was at his office 2 years ago, my final bill was {content}. How do I handle this properly? I am not sure how you handle collections with a doctor.

Please no comments like-You should have known, or it’s your fault, because I WAS NOT notified in any way about this debt. This debt was applied to my credit while I was still under his care! I don’t even think the doctor is making true claims.
Oh, by the way, I can’t get this doc to call me back-only his secretary.
