Collectors calling saying they don't deal with debt payment plan companies?
I posted a question regarding collections calling about a debt that had been charged off from Chase. The company calling is Client Services Inc. States that they didn’t buy the debt from Chase they’re collecting for them period.
I researched debt consolidation companies, and called friends who have dealt with this, and CareOne Credit Counsel was ultimately choosen. They were very kind and professional. At the end of the counsel session, going over our budget etc…we set everything up, and they gave me a number for collections to call if they called again.
Ofcourse they called, I told the collector what we had done and that CareOne would be paying the original creditor. That we wanted to pay this off and this was the only way we could. They stated they wouldn’t work with them, no way, and we had to pay this off now, or face legal action.
They say they work for Chase, they have the charge off turned over to them. Not bought but turned over. I don’t know who to believe here. The careone credit solutions who states they do this all the time and gave me proof, or the collections people who say, they gave me a settlement, but never gave me anything in writing and even now don’t want to since I said we don’t have the money right now.
What do I do here??? This is our only ding on our credit. We are military and on a SLIM budget. I just wonder if someone out there has dealt with a situation like this? What to do, who to believe???

If I pay off all my credit card debts that went to collections, will I be able to get a credit card soon?
If I pay off ,000 in credit card debts that went to collections, will I they give me a credit card again, or will it take a long time for anyone to give me a credit card?
I just paid, in-full, 2 debts to collection agencies, how long til my Credit report reflects these payments?
I had 3 credit accounts that all went to collections over a year ago when I ran into hard times. In the last week I got two of them paid off completely and I am wondering how long I should expect it to take for these collection agencies to report on my credit report that the debts are paid. I obviously don’t expect it to show up immediately, but how long are we talking? A month? 6 months? A year? Anybody know?
Is it good for your credit score to "settle" your debts?
I have things in collections and want badly to get my credit back up. Every now and then I get offers in the mail to settle the debt for a lesser amount….Are this offers something to take advantage of as a means of improving your score?
debt consolidation?
i am about 2,000 in debt and i also have 0 car payments that make it difficult for me to pay the rest of my bills. my bills have gone to collections and although they are only 0-400 for 3 cards and 1,000 for another…creditors are demanding that i make payments in full or divide it in half and pay between 2 months. i know that i have made poor decisions but i would like to take care of this before it gets any worse. i contacted a debt consolidator and he told me that although they normally require 2500 in debt he would be able to help me with the approval of his supervisor, he also told me that he could probably get my payments back to their minimums. but what i’m not sure of is whats in it for the consolidators? how much am i going to have to pay them for this service? he said it would be about a activation, but i’m sure they must make more than that, is it going to make everything worse in the end?

Can my credit score tank if i pay old debts?
I have medical debts on my credit report that are collections that were reported in 2007 the debts are from 2003 from surgery i had, would it tank my credit rating if i paid these or how long should i wait for the collections to come off they were assigned in 2006 i have been thinking of filing ch. 7 on all off them what should i do.
is there a good way to consolidate or handle medical debt?
i have a low credit score of 533, and i desperately need to start working on raising it. i have many negative charges on my credit, but not one is a credit card – i don’t have any credit cards. most of the stuff is related to hospital visits i made while uninsured–ambulance rides, hospital bills, laboratory tests, etc. that have been sent to collections for nonpayment. i had been told years ago that medical debt doesn’t negatively affect your credit as badly as some other things (like loans or credit cards) but that is definitely NOT the case! are there any services out there that help with medical debt, specifically? i have asked a question about debt consolidation in general, but every site i was given is a cheapy ad site with no good information, or at least no info that i didn’t already have. if i pursue debt consolidation as an option–knowing that might negatively affect my credit in itself, but it can’t get much worse–where can i REALLY go to get info on a good service?
