I had about ,000 in various credit card/credit account debts that I tried to help pay off with a debt consolidation company (Preferred Financial Services). They’ve agreed to negotiate with my credit accounts and pay off the amounts owed, then I pay them off; they’ve been charging me 1 a month for 3 months. But all the creditors still call me throughout the day.

The Preferred Financial Services company said it can take several months before the creditors stop calling (I interpreted this as, before they even start dealing with the creditors), but I’m beginning to wonder if it would even be worth it to use this debt consolidation service. My house has been foreclosed and I know my credit score will be a huge wreck until that ages off; is it even worth it to try to use this debt consolidation at this point? I barely have enough money to pay rent and utilities as it is, and want to make a choice that makes the most sense.

My husband loves computers. He likes to talk about them, help people with their problems (say on forums and such) and keep up with the best technology.

Then thing is, once you buy a computer component, it literally is 1/2 it’s worth when it arrives at your door-step. New and better things come out all the time.

My problem is, he lies as to how much he paid for an item. I’ve never given him reason to feel he needs to lie. I’ve never told him that he CAN’T buy it, but he also knows we can’t afford it either right now.

So, after a few weeks of new packages at our door stop and new components being installed, I finally get the bill… it’s OVER 0! WTF! He knows we can’t afford that… even if it’s on credit accounts [paypal buyers credit, and newegg.com credit (which I cannot close – because they are in his name).

I don’t know what to do, besides blowing my top off. We’re trying to pay off debt, and he just keeps adding more!
why would he hide and lie like that to me? When he knows I’m gonna see the bill later? I’ve never given him reason to feel he needs to lie or hide… and have never jumped on him for buying stuff… but I don’t like he feels he needs to lie! What can I do?
no, he’s not cheating on me… or hiding other bills. It’s just a matter of him lying to me… then even trying to lie again when I ask him why he lied… It makes me feel like he can’t trust me, or respect our financial situation. We’re not rich… and I am trying HARD to pay off 2 credit cards and medical bills. I just find it rude.. mostly since I’m his wife!

I had 3 credit accounts that all went to collections over a year ago when I ran into hard times. In the last week I got two of them paid off completely and I am wondering how long I should expect it to take for these collection agencies to report on my credit report that the debts are paid. I obviously don’t expect it to show up immediately, but how long are we talking? A month? 6 months? A year? Anybody know?

Sarah, what about if your delinquent accounts are completely paid off?
If a person has several credit accounts that have been referred to outside collection agencies, how long will it take for your credit to improve after you pay off all of your debt to the collection agencies?

Here’s a scenario..

You’re several months behind on your payments, and about 3 months after they’ve been charged off and sent to collections, you pay them off.

Hi! Me and my fianace are getting readu to get married. She has ,000 in credit card debt and I have ,000 in credit card debt. If one of us dies before the otherone dies, would the other spouce be responciple for the others debts? We have no joint credit accounts.

I’m turning 22 in august. I never could have imagined myself like this but here is a simple story about my mess. I started doing some online business stuff when I was 13 and made some good money. Once I was 18 I had 3 Amex charge cards and 1 credit card. My credit score was around the 800s until I was 20. I lost a lot of money in gambling and everything. I have a bunch of credit card debt right now and most likely they are in collection and everything. How do I start to repay them? what should I do ? I avoided everything and escape reality for 1 year and a few months and I don’t want to ruin my life. I got a p/t job now and I’m making about 3k a month so I want to know what’s the best way to combact debt that is so out of control and all lost. I don’t even know what companies I owe money to because I lost track due to me opening credit accounts. From your experience please guide me the way so I can go out everyday and feel proud to be debt free.

What happen if the account is closed ? and the bill is just there in collection with no interest rate ?
