When one dies, who is legally bound to pay his debts?

I have a grandfather passed away and my grandma does not have the money to pay back his debts (,000), can the creditors go after her eventhough she is not the one who applied for the loan?
He had life insurance (which is not a lot just enough for the funeral)…can they try and take that? Grandma and Grandpa had a joint bank account together with Wells Fargo and grandpa has a credit card with them.

what’s the best credit card consolidation service?

you know those services that let you take your credit cards and consolidate the balance? They negotiate with your creditors so that you can make one consolidated payment, and eventually climb out of debt. What’s the best service for this out there? I realize it stays on your credit report for like 7 years, but that’s life.

What debts are cleared by Bankruptcy in Canada?

I have been discharged from bankruptcy for 2 years. Prior to that I owed money to family member, who is now threatening legal action to recuperate the money owed. (Nice, eh?)

My question is: if they did start legal action, would our Bankruptcy have covered this debt? I know that we weren’t allowed to pay family back during our bankruptcy because this would be preference, so I would assume that family members are seen the same as other creditors, but I’m not sure.

Thanks!

debt consolidation?

i am about 2,000 in debt and i also have 0 car payments that make it difficult for me to pay the rest of my bills. my bills have gone to collections and although they are only 0-400 for 3 cards and 1,000 for another…creditors are demanding that i make payments in full or divide it in half and pay between 2 months. i know that i have made poor decisions but i would like to take care of this before it gets any worse. i contacted a debt consolidator and he told me that although they normally require 2500 in debt he would be able to help me with the approval of his supervisor, he also told me that he could probably get my payments back to their minimums. but what i’m not sure of is whats in it for the consolidators? how much am i going to have to pay them for this service? he said it would be about a activation, but i’m sure they must make more than that, is it going to make everything worse in the end?

If i just stop making payments on a credit card, can they eventually sue me for the balance?

I have two lines of credit open that total around ,000. The minimum monthly payments became to much for me, after a pay cut and my employer changing my medical decuctions. So, it has been quite a few months now that i havent made one payment towards either of these cards. I have spoken to people from both companies, trying to figure out a way to continue to pay off my debt but the only options they gave me were very un do’able. They wanted half of the balance due, paid in full within 15 days. Well, if i cant come up with a 0 payment every month, what are the chances im going to be able to come up with 00 in 15 days..lol So, my question is this..if i continue to ignore these companies and my accounts get turned over to collection agencies, what happens next? Will the accounts just be at a charge off status, and i’m free of those debts (once the collection agencies stop calling)? I have read that eventually you could be sue’d or your wages garnished, are either of those common for creditors to do? I’ve had so much mixed advice. I know another option is always bankruptcy, but at 28 years old that seems a little ridiculous. Any advice is VERY much appreciated!!

Did You Know…?

…that those "free" credit score sites are actually a ploy used by creditors searching for people who have unpaid credit debt? My advice; if you don’t want them harassing you, do not fill these out!!

What is the best route to go? Debt Consolidation Services or Credit Repair Services?

I am currently overseas and would like to fix my credit as soon as possible, but definitely do not have the time or the resources to contact my creditors. The internet is the only means possible right now and I would like to know if there is any services out that that stand out above the rest.
