I'm having some trouble choosing my major, advice?

I’ve given thought to what I want to do with my life seriously for about a year now. Veterinarian was my number one choice, but I could not afford all the debt I would acquire, even with loans, I don’t want to get myself into that. My mom and sister are both nurses, and they make pretty good money working full time. I’ve never wanted to be a nurse, and yet that’s my declared major. My goal is to make enough money to spend all my free time with my horses (I am very big into horses) but I am not excited to be a nurse. So lately, I’ve been thinking about something with horses. Nothing in horses pays well, but I could get a degree in Equine Science, become a farrier, etc. I am hoping lots of little jobs will add up to something I can live with. In all honesty, what can someone DO with a degree in Equine Science?

I just don’t know what to do… tough it out in nursing or risk it with horses…
I’m sure I would learn to like nursing, but I’m just so undecided…

Good trade site for small trades in stock market?

Thinking about starting to trade in the stock market but only with small amounts to start out, somewhere around 100 to 300 dollars and was wondering if there are any good sites out there that would have minimal fees for such a small amount? I was referred to Scottrade, but told that this site is only good for thousands of dollars, and Sharebuilder as a good one for small trades.

What are your guys’s opinions? Any advice?

Mind you, this isn’t an investment thing, I am just doing htis in my free time to try to make a bit of extra money. I am not using money that I will need in the future, so don’t think I am going to go into debt or anything! Just figured this would be a better thing to do besides going to a casino and blowing my money.

How do you cut stressful things from your life if cutting them would cause stress in other areas?

I have not always made wise decisions. Eight months ago I had amassed ,000 in credit card debt. Add in my ,000 of student loans still outstanding, and I knew I had to get control of my life. I took on two jobs and temporarily moved back in with my parents so that I could get my spending and debt under control. By living on a budget and working two jobs, I have already paid off ,000 of that debt. All was fine at first, but now I am not resting enough, and I am stressed due to lack of free time and living with my parents after being on my own for so long. However, if I either quit one of my jobs or move out, I will be equally stressed by having that credit card bill hanging over my head indefinitely. The longer I have that debt, the longer it will be before I can save for a down payment for a house of my own.

I don’t know which to choose: physical stress or financial stress? Frankly, both are causing me emotional stress, so there’s no way to do away with that one. Advice?

Potential Life and Career Dilemma, advice please?

For a while now I’ve been hugely considering going to school to become an Orthodontist. I’ve always been interested but was constantly turned away from the idea due to it generally taking more than 10 years to accomplish the task.

Recently I’ve begun to think it’s probably worth it, but while thinking that I thought of my current situation with my girlfriend. I’ll just list the pros and cons, it’ll be easier for everyone that decides to read this.

Pros towards career: A job I’d be happy at, help people, meet people, be my own boss (would probably open my own practice), work only during the week (with very few exceptions to weekends), make my own hours pretty much, have plenty enough free time for my (future) kids and family, and make plenty enough money to sustain a very happy life.

Cons against career: At least 10 years of youth down the drain (dental school gives you no time for anything but to study & do labs), horrendously in debt (could pay off in no time after I graduate), risk losing everything I have in social communication (family, friends, girlfriend even), and if I get married and have kids I’ll have no time for them till I finish entirely.

My girlfriend and I would like to get married in about 3 years and start having children at most 2 years after that. I’m 24 turning 25 later this year. I’d love to persue dental school but not at the cost of being a shitty father and husband. To ask her to hold her life till I’m 35′ish seems like a lot to me and I get the feeling she would not be okay with that at all.

So, any advice or personal experiences would be greatly, GREATLY appreciated! I won’t be able to start school till next year Fall probably due to no money or car (job hunting at the moment).
the 10+ year process to becoming a orthodontist involves 4 years to get bachelors (preferably in science due to prerequisits to get into dental school), 4 years of dental school, and 2+ years of specialization (orthodontist) school.

Apparently once I hit dental school there’s no time for anything BUT dental school. If I try to take on other tasks my grades will horrendously suffer… or so I’ve been told by many, many people who’ve gone through this.

I need advice for college next year, please help?

I have one year left to finish my bachelors in psychology and anthropology, but I know I won’t be able to get much of a job with that so I looked into a one year program doing something I think I would enjoy: dental assisting. In my area (Florida) certified dental assistants can make 15/hr on average. However I would get a lot more financial aid and have more free time if I finish my bachelors…. but then I probably won’t find a job. I don’t know what to do, next year I have to either finish my bachelors or do this dental program and finish my bachelors at a later date. I want to be able to get a job, so what is the best choice?

BTW, this is the last year I want to be in school. I’m not interested in grad school, all my friends that went are in even worse debt and work at Starbucks or Walmart.

Pretty in debt and looking for advice?

…So I did the University thing, then I got a strange calling and trained to be a children’s nurse…all the time wracking up debt on my travels into study! So now I’m in trouble but also my shifts give me a lot of free time on my hands and wonder if anyone has ideas for what i can do to make some money. The NHS has pretty much banned all wards from having agency nurses and children’s nurse work is pretty scarce. So I’m here waiting for sensible ideas but also geared up for the scary ones! Cheers
