Does too much available credit hurt you?
If your current credit score is above 750 and you have 6 credit cards with over k available credit…does that affect getting a mortgage down the road?
My common sense tells me that it makes my credit score look better and also shows lenders that I can handle large credit limits without going crazy with spending. Available credit isn’t supposed to be debt – but do mortgage companies review your available credit as if you could get in debt, even if all cards are zero balance? Or would that even matter? Just wondering if I should drop some of my crazy high credit limits down in the future (not cancel the cards, but just lower the credit limits on zero balance cards). I wouldn’t think that would affect my score since it won’t have a balance at all.
Some say it’s horrible, some say it ‘might’…some say it won’t and that it’s "good" to have a lot of credit. How about…answers from someone who actually knows what they are talking about and isn’t taking a guess? Thanks.
During your husband's Midlife Crisis…?
How did you wives handle his constant coming and going from the house? Mine likes to stay at his mom’s. He is all stressed over finances and his post affair guilt. Says he wants to get us out of debt and work on him by seeing a shrink. Claims he is in no rush for "us" to repair our relationship. I’m starting to give up. MLC totally sucks! They are crazy little children who like to run away from responsibilities. I’m unemployed with 3 small kids. All he does is work and come and go. Then when he is home all he does is bitch and complain. HELP!!!!!! Oh and he loves to flip flop between divorce and staying together. No…that’s not emotional abuse at all……I just want to slap the shit out of him and tell him to wake up and be the 41 year old man he is!
How does the US get out of debt?
So the US debt is getting quite out of control, I think we can all agree. But I’m wondering how we get out of it? I’ve heard cutting spending, raising taxes, intentional inflation (though I’ve heard our loans are adjusted for inflation). But how do we do this when our politicians are scared to raise taxes (I know I’m against it) and also too scared to drastically cut their spending? Our debt just keeps getting worse and worse! That’s why our generation is told not to get credit cards and get into debt! Because we end up paying three times the amount we received. So if we don’t do something about it, it’ll just end up being more and more, perhaps an amount we literally CANNOT handle.
So my friends can you tell me your ideas?
I am not biased and I’d love to hear all opinions, so please don’t be upset with anything I’ve said, because I’d love to hear any opinion you may have.
I’d say I have to agree with the fact that the poor should not be paid for, though I understand that sometimes it’s just impossible for people to get the money they need, so it’s understandable to provide a little unemployment money till THEY take the initiative to find a job or move to find a job. But I have seen this in my personal experience, "If I make another hundred dollars, or get another job, my 0 a month food card will be cancelled and I’ll be left with LESS money!" So if they work harder they’re punished, less hard and they’re rewarded, it’s situations like this that hurt the economy. So if the poor were cut, taxes on the rich could be cut a little more, and the poor would have to get jobs perhaps that the rich could create, because of the money they’ve been allowed to keep. I don’t care what people say, the rich who provide jobs. They’re taxed something like 70%? Imagine if the middle class was taxed that. How would anyone open a business? So it might hinder the rich too.
Is it possible to have collection accounts erased from your credit report?
I want to pay off several credit card collections accounts. I want to handle them myself and not utilize a debt consolidation program because I’ve heard that a "settle" on your credit report still looks bad. How would I go about paying the accounts off AND having them removed? Also, do I have to pay the accounts in full to have the collections removed or can I just pay a high percentage of what is due. ( like 80% )
Specifically what is going well that government is handling these days .?
Is education better today then 40 years ago ?
(studies indicate no )
Security –Are we more secure today then 40 years ago ?
(Crime rates are at historic levels equal to the prohibition years Almost )
Future and income — Do we have a better future ahead with reduced deficits and more spendable income ?
( A 9 trillion dollar debt and a looming social security problem ) When they say that it will last till 2040 what the mean is the next day we start building a 1 trillion dollar debt each year if the social security tax structure remains the same . Thats a 00.00 debt for each person each year that does not get smaller .
This nation is and has been on the wrng path since the late 60"S and is only getting worse with regulation and greed .
So you tell me how you are better today if each year you get further in debt .
YOU do know that the inflated duel income you have today buys less then your Fathers single income in the 60"s bought .
Shady/Illegal Tactics From Creditors Interchange?
I have been dealing with a company called Creditors Interchange about a past credit card debt that I have accumulated. They have contacted my father at his unlisted home phone number when I failed to call them back right away after our first conversation. To my knowledge it is illegal for them to contact anyone else if they have already established contact with me and know how to get in touch with me. Also, after setting up a payment arrangement with them, they would send me a letter prior to the withdrawal from my checking account every month stating "If we do not hear from you before the above mentioned date your check will be processed as agreed. Please call us at the toll free number listed below if any change is necessary regarding the above arrangement." Well this last month, after recieving this letter I realized that I did not have the funds in my bank to allow this transaction to go through, so I contacted CI 3-4 times before the agreed date, but never recieved a return phone call until the day the payment already went through. Later that day I recieved a call back saying that it was too late to stop the payment and I was out of luck. Since the funds were not in my bank, the check bounced. Even worse, after this check bounced, they tried withdrawaling this amount twice more. Is this legal? Does anyone have experience in this matter that can give me some sort of advice? Thanks in advance!
How do I keep my marriage strong even though…?
My husband and I are in serious debt (my husband had a credit card before we got married, he is pretty bad with managing money) and now we have to pay it all off.
We have a daughter together and after she was born he insisted I quit my job to be an "at home mom", well I was recently offered the perfect, great paying job in a town pretty far away, and I get free room and board for myself and my daughter. Only problem is my husband is staying in the town where we live which is about a 4 hour trip by bus. He will keep his job and use his money to pay off the debt. After our debt is paid off he will join me, and hopefully fullfill his dream of starting his own company while I keep a steady job.
I’d like some advice on how to keep our marriage strong even though we will only see each other during the weekends!
I trust my husband, so that’s not an issue. And I will handle his money through an account and give him some mad money. I realize this sounds silly, but we both agree it’s the best way to go.
Also, he will be living with his mother, so he won’t exactly have complete freedom. He will move up with me shortly after or shortly before our debt is paid (6months if even).
Maybe I should set somethings straight. First, "money" is not so important to us, but we are barely making ends meet and need to get out of debt.
I live in Guatemala and have no work visa, family offered me a job as a caretaker, and in this town where I plan on living is where his entire family lives (except his mother).
Please, don’t say my marriage will fail, obviously that was not my question! How do I keep my marriage strong is what I asked. Thanks!!
